Is there an ideal friend? Who is an ideal friend? Who do we consider to be a friend? There are a lot of unanswered questions about friendship because friendship itself is undefined. Someone might say that a friend is a kind, open-minded, sincere person, others that it is a person who always helps. Yet everybody looks for something special in their friends, for those qualities of character people consider important to themselves. In fact, friends can be easily divided into types such as casual friends, close friends and soul mates.

The first group of friends are those people who always make each other laugh. Usually they meet at any place crowded with people .It might be either school/university or a party. This is a type of people who have a lot of fun together, who joke and smile a lot and who never get tired of entertainment. Such friends usually go to school together, they probably meet every day but they rarely speak about each other’s feelings or emotions. They know casual, simple things from each other’s life, such as name, place of birth and a name of their dog. However, this kind of friendship will probably not last long. There are not only happy moments in the life and when somebody have problems, for example break up with a boyfriend/girlfriend or problems at school, such friends will not listen and will not offer good advice because they are busy partying. Another group are friends who are with one in sunshine and shade. These are the people one feel comfortable around, one spends almost all the time with. They cannot live a single day without seeing each other or chatting on a phone for 3 hours. Usually such friends meet in a school or live in the same neighborhood. They know everything about each other, all the details of their lives such as the date of their first kisses or the full story about a scar on a knee. These friends are always there to help or to support. Whenever one is happy his friend is happy, whenever one is sad his friend feels bad too. Usually such friends call each other ‘sisters/brothers’. One can call one’s friend at 3 a.m. and the friend will always be happy to hear the familiar voice. These people always say each other what is in their heart, they share feelings, emotions. These people bring one an experience of peace or make one laugh. They usually give one an unbelievable amount of joy. Usually such a friendship lasts for many years and becomes stronger and stronger with time.Friendship with a soul mate is a friendship for a life time. Soul mates are the friends that don't need to be categorized, as they fall into every category. They are the ones who will always listen and the ones whom we love listening to. They are the ones who always seem to find a solution to the most impossible problems such as how to write an essay in 20 minutes or where to buy the cheapest but very fashionable skirt. They are the ones who make one smile, no matter how one feels on the inside. Nobody can say when and how these people meet. Nevertheless, from the very first minute one realizes that this person understands one without words! Usually these friends have similar thoughts and they can end sentences for each other. People say that they have one soul in two bodies. Usually a soul mate is a boyfriend /girlfriend or a husband/wife. He/she loves the one for being a part of his/her life, cherishes for who the one is. That is why people are lucky to find only one soul mate as it is believed that there is only one true love for everybody.A Swedish proverb says, ‘Friendship doubles our joys and divides our grief’. No matter what type friends are, people still love friends for who they are, what they mean. Friendship always means a lot as it brightens the days and makes one feel happy. God determines who walks into one’s life and it's and only a person decides who he lets walk away, who he lets stay, and who he refuses to let go.
